Total Balance

Total Balance shows the current total for a sheet in the sheet’s currency. It also shows separate expense and income subtotals.

Expenses shows the currency code on the Total Balance card, which is useful when a sheet contains transactions in more than one currency.

Change the Total Period

In the default sheet view, select the period pill on the Total Balance card to change which items are included.

The available periods are:

  • As of Today: current non-pending items through today.
  • This Year: non-pending items in the current year.
  • This Month: non-pending items in the current month.
  • This Week: non-pending items in the current week.
  • Today: non-pending items from today.
  • Custom: a selected date range.

Custom ranges include the full selected days. You can also omit the start date to include everything through the selected end date.

Repeating transactions are included when an occurrence falls inside the selected total period. Pending items are excluded from the total until they become current items.

Filters and Quick Filters

When you use a quick filter or detailed filters, the Total Balance card follows the filtered results instead of the saved total period.

For example, if you filter to EUR transactions over a specific amount, Total Balance shows the total, expense subtotal, and income subtotal for those matching items. To return to the saved total period, clear the detailed filters and choose As of Today.
